Rachel
Rachel received her Master’s in Music in Vocal Performance from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN in 2011, and graduated with honors and a 4.0 GPA. Before that, she received her Bachelors in Arts in Music for Vocal Performance from the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, TX in 2008, graduating with a summa cum laude. She also completed additional 15 credit hours in field of Education. Along with her degrees, Rachel is also certified for Level I Kodály Music Education, receiving that at the Kodály Institute of Houston in Houston, TX in 2009. Rachel teaches voice, piano, and guitar. She has participated in several master workshops, and has performed as soloist for orchestras, ensembles and bands. Rachel has been teaching since 2006, and her styles include classical, opera, art songs, jazz, pop, country, rock, musical theater, sacred music, among others.

Dwight
Dwight graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, NC, receiving a Bachelor’s in Music Performance and Music Education in 1980.  He was recipient of the Alyse Smith Reynolds Performing Scholarship for 3 years. Dwight began playing guitar at age 5 and studied for 2 years with a local instructor as a child.  He attended the UNC School of the Arts Summer program in classical guitar at age 7 and again at age 11. He switched to bass at the age of 14, playing in the high school jazz band. After college, Dwight spent 10 years touring and working with notable musicians in jazz and rock bands.  Dwight has been teaching since 1980, and he offers rock, country, bluegrass, pop, jazz, classical, world music, among other styles

Downtown Philly! Our piano teacher David has toured the world


David David, studio artist, pianist, and coach, began studying piano at the age 13. He was chosen to be in a special class for talented young musicians in high school. After high school, he graduated from the Taipei National University of Arts in Taipei City, Taiwan. After that, he received his postgraduate diploma in Piano Performance and Master’s degree from the Birmingham Conservatoire. While at the Conservatoire, he gave solo recitals at concert halls and at various churches. At that time, he also continued to study under a professor at the Petersburg Conservatory in Russia. He has participated in numerous master classes, and won first prize at the Pingtung City Piano Competition and Diplomas at the National Taiwan Piano Competition. As a chamber musician and accompanist, he collaborated with many outstanding chamber music groups and soloists in Taiwan and in UK. He has also performed in Taiwan, Malaysia, Canada, Russia, USA and United Kingdom. In 2009, he gave the recitals/concerts in Iowa and New York City’s Carnegie Hall. In 2009 and 2010, David was the staff accompanist in the Interlochen International summer Camp. He has also been the accompanist for the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Voice competition. David is currently working on his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy with opera/song accompaniment at the University of Iowa. David has been teaching since 1999 and offers classical and contemporary styles.

Robby studied trumpet performance and music education at University of Cincinnati College- Conservatory of Music for his Bachelor of Music and Yale University for his Masters in trumpet performance. During his studies at these universities he attended the Brevard Music Center, Hot Springs Music Festival, National Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival on the New Horizon fellowship, Pierre Monteux Orchestra, Opera Maya Opera Company, Lake George Music Festival (Artist in Residence) and faculty trumpet teacher at Luzerne Music Festival in upstate New York. After completing Yale, he has enjoyed traveling and performing across the world playing in pits for Shen Yun Performing Arts Ballet, Princess Cruise line productions and the international Broadway tour of Disney’s “Beauty and The Beast”. Robby is currently lead trumpet for a local theatre. He’s been teaching since 2009, and offers classical, Broadway, Big Band, and most contemporary styles.

Sam in Spokane is an expert in high school drum lines


 

Sam
Sam graduated with a Percussion Performance degree form Eastern Washington University in 1992. She has been teaching since 1991 and offers all styles. She currently performs around the Spokane area. She has worked with many high school drum lines and various music organizations and has been with the Air National Guard band for 16 years, and is on the board for the Professional Musicians union as well as the Musicfest Northwest. Sam is also involved with music stores and centers in the area.Personality rating: Outgoing

Indie Acoustic Project winner Nick is our newest instructor


Nick graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA with a degree in Professional Music in 2011 and is currently pursuing his Masters in Music for Music Therapy. He began playing at the age of nine, and throughout high school he played in rock and jazz bands, the school orchestra, chorus, and big band. Nick is a performer (guitar, mandolin, bass, voice, and piano/keyboard), as well as a composer, recording artist, and music transcriber. Nick has traveled the USA, Canada, Europe, and Africa, performing solo and with various groups. He recorded his debut album in 2014, receiving the Indie Acoustic Project’s 2014 Instrumental Album of the Year, and continues to perform and record locally. Nick began teaching in 2007 and offers bluegrass, jazz, gypsy jazz, rock, funk, Motown, and pop styles.

Practice often in short sessions so that you are fresh and retain everything you’ve learned. When you’re learning a new piece, practice short segments of the piece in one practice session, and immediately repeat troubled areas. Listen to yourself when you sing or play and be your own instructor or hear the words of your instructor as you practice. Record yourself so that you can hear yourself better for your final critique. And lastly, add color, dynamics and your own feelings to make the music yours!

Andre holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition and Audio Engineering, concentration in piano at the University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, TX in 2015. Before that, he graduated from the Mountain View College in Dallas, TX in 2012 with an Associate in Arts, Field of Study in Music. Andre has been playing piano since he was four. Since then, he’s picked up several other instruments including guitar, voice, bass, percussion, drums, and flute. Throughout school, he played in multiple bands, performing in numerous venues. Andre has been teaching since 2009, offering both English and Spanish lessons, and he offers pop, rock, progressive metal, acoustic, electronic, classical styles.
