Skype vocal lessons for kids!

MMS Beautiful musicMy daughter has been taking singing lessons through Skype. I wasn’t sure how this would work, however, it has been fantastic! Rachel has been a dream to work with mostly due to her supportive nature and expertise, but also because she is very flexible when we have to change a lesson time. We would definitley recommend Melody Music Studios…and Rachel!!

Lee teaches voice, guitar, piano, songwriting and other musical disciplines

My name is Lee and I teach voice, guitar, piano, songwriting and other disciplines. I am a coach, consultant and mentor to young and older, up and coming performing artists. I have been a professional opera singer, musical theatre performer and touring recording artist and have done all of this for the last 25 years.

My high school experience with my mentor Bruce Lesley, sealed the deal for my desires to be a professional performer…coupled with my upbringing as the son of Dennis Bailey, a world renowned operatic tenor. The lead roles and solos I had in high school sparked the flame that has never gone out.

I have 5 studio recordings: “My Heart’s Passion Volume I & II” (Sacred Music Collection), “After The Show” (Broadway Musical Theatre), “Noel” & “Advent” (Christmas) & my new album, “5 Days” (my first album of original contemporary rock/pop material).

I will be doing concert dates this summer, fall and winter in support of my albums: “5 Days” and “Advent.”

My number one practice tip? Spend quality, on purpose, time with your craft. Your art is passion and requires the time to build a relationship with it. Spend time with what you love and that love will grow.

Currently I am listening to a variety of music including: U2’s “Songs of Innocence” and The Cure and Coldplay and I am studying
Ralph Vaughan Williams’: “Songs of Travel” and Franz Schubert’s: “Die Schöne Müllerin (The Miller’s Daughter) which will be my next cd.

I constantly write music and have several songs completed for my next contemporary Rock/Folk album entitled: 333 that should go into production at the beginning of 2017.

Instructor Jeff was influened by Miles Davis

Q and A with new instructor Jeff!

Q&A with our new instructor Jeff
I’m Jeff and I play trumpet, Piano/Keyboard, teach Composition, Music Tech, and Theory. I’ve been teaching for a little over 7 years.
When did you know you wanted to play ? The first time I heard Miles Davis. The tune was ‘My Funny Valentine’ – a live take from the album Jazz At The Plaza. Miles’ solo on it impacted me in such a way that I knew I had to be a musician. The all star band including Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Cannonball, Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cob left a real mark.
Music projects you’re working on? Featured as a Trumpet player on numerous albums. But my work is featured in a vast array of film and media work. My latest project was writing the score for the original film Discretion by director Cody McAvey. Currently in festivals nationwide. As well as additional ghost writing.
What’s your best practice advice? Take your time. Rushing won’t get you to where you want to go any quicker.
What are you listening to right now? Snarky Puppy – Family Dinner Volume 2. A great band really creating a new sound in Jazz collaborating with some amazing, more mainstream musicians like Laura Mvula, Nigel Hall, Lalah Hatheway, among others.

Cherie’s absolute love of teaching will win you over!

MMS- Music is ....

Cherie and Melody Music Studios are simply amazing!!!

My son started taking piano lessons this year with Cherie, and she is just amazing. From the very first moment you meet Cherie, you will be instantly won over by her absolute love of what she does and warm personality. At the end of his first lesson he didn’t want to leave and he looks forward to going every week. Melody Music Studios is at the top of my list for one of my best experiences with any of my kids extracurricular activities, and I have four children so there are quite a few to compare! Kathi does a great job of hiring great instructors and every interaction you have with her will be simple and enjoyable as well
