Meet our instructor Morgan


Morgan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Concentration in Music and Society: The Social Context of the Performing Arts and Entrepreneurship, (at Fairhaven College, 2015). She also has a triple minor in Music; Audio Technology, Music and Society; and French, at the Western Washington University in 2015. Through the program, she took classes in music theory, aural, and keyboard skills. She sang for a year with the Advanced Women’s Chorale, and before that she participated with the University Choir. Morgan studied privately for classical vocal technique for 3 years with several college instructors, and continues to study with one of them. At Fairhaven College she took classes in Songwriting, Poetry & Lyric, and Studio Recording, and she facilitated a group songwriting workshop as an Independent Study Project, as well as having taught a course on Hip Hop music and culture for my Senior Project. Morgan has been teaching since early 2015 and offers classical, pop, jazz, Broadway, and R&B styles.

Meet our drum instructor Lance


Lance grew up in a musical family, and began his love for drumming at the tender age of three on pots and pans, moving on to a set of drums at the age of five. He played drums and percussion throughout elementary, middle and high school, including symphonic and hand percussion (including mallets) in concert/symphonic band and drum set and hand percussion in jazz band. In high school, he performed in the marching band and winter percussion ensembles, and in 2001, he played the drum set in the six time world champion Blue Knights Winter Percussion Ensemble. Lance began gigging in punk and jazz bands from 2001-2003, and after high school, he took some time to travel to different parts of the world and play music with local musicians in London, Amsterdam, Rome, Prague and Tanzania. He then went to college and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performance from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City in 2008, and began to focus on jazz drum, hand percussion, African drumming, Brazilian drumming, piano, film scoring, and took courses in music theory and recording engineering/software. After college, he continued to perform with top musicians in NYC in famous venues and radio, as well as recording sessions with well known musicians. As an educator, Lance taught for a high school in the Drumline/Percussion Ensemble from 2009-2010 and currently mentors young musicians at a local conservatory in their jazz ensembles. He is also a regular performer/instructor in their educational outreach clinics. Lance has been teaching private lessons since 2008 and offers all styles for both drumming/percussion and piano, including music theory, ear training, and composition.

Meet our multitalented instructor Erin


Erin is a professional musician, freelance publicist, and media director for an entertainment group. She received a Bachelor of Science in Music Business from Lee University in Cleveland, TN in 2010, where she was part of several music ensembles and organizations on campus. Erin continued there to complete her Masters in Music Performance for Flute and Piccolo in 2014. Along with flute and piccolo, Erin also offers piano and voice lessons. She has performed in Carnegie Hall, auditioned for the Nashville symphony, substituted for the Sewanee Symphony for four seasons, and has gigged in Chattanooga, Atlanta and Nashville since her senior year of high school. She has taught privately since 2006, offering several methods, including Orff and Kodaly, and taught at a school of music in Washington, D.C. She currently performs in a Celtic group and sings in a caroling group. Her styles include classical, Celtic, and most contemporary styles.

Meet our instructor Matt


 

 

MattS2Matt graduated from the Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX in 2015 with a Masters in Music Education in 2015. He also received his teaching credentials. Before that, he received a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies-Saxophone Performance from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX in 2012. He also studied clarinet and flute there. Matt grew up in a musical family, and began to play the saxophone at age eleven. As a senior in high school, he made the Texas All-State Jazz Ensemble. His senior year at the university, he participated in the highest honor band and began traveling and touring all over the world, visiting Thailand, Canada, Poland, Japan, and the Netherlands. Matt has been teaching since 2003 for both private lessons and for five years, for school bands at private schools. For his piano background, Matt took private lessons as a child, as well as being self taught, applying his musical knowledge to the piano. He also completed his piano proficiency in college, and continues to play for his enjoyment. He offers both traditional and by ear lessons on all instruments. Matt offers classical, jazz, rock, and pop styles.

Meet our new instructor Erin


ErinP

Erin studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA for two years before she was signed on with a record label in NY, where she worked with legendary musicians. Soon after, Erin auditioned for American idol and made it to the top 40 for two years in a row. She is working towards being accredited for teaching the well-known method of IVTOM (mix singing), that teaches voice health and strengthening the break between head and chest voice. Erin has been teaching since 2013, and offers all styles, specifically classical, pop, rock, r&b, country, soul, gospel, jazz, and alternative.

Meet our instructor Deanna


Deanna graduated from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM in 1992 with a Bachelor in English/Psychology. She began playing the piano at the age of eight, and has studied privately since 2001, and teaching since 2002. Deanna offers classical, blues, various rhythm styles like rag time, Bossa Nova, pop, and folk styles.
