Joel graduated from the Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music in Hollywood, CA in 2011 with a degree in Guitar Performance. Joel has been teaching since 2005, and offers rock, blues, funk, pop, jazz, country, reggae, acoustic, country, and metal. He began playing in 2002 and performing/recording since 2008 for guitar, keyboard, bass and vocals. Along with teaching, performing, and recording, Joel has also written and produced his own album. He’ currently recording with various musicians in the Los Angeles area and continues to write his own music

Our guitar instructor Matt is a Berklee Grad

Matt graduated with a Bachelors of Music from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in 1991. Matt began taking classical guitar lessons in high school. After graduating, Matt performed and toured through the southeast in a country band. He then moved to Nashville where he performs in a Nashville jazz venue. Throughout his performance career, he’s played in musically challenging bands including progressive rock, metal, classic rock, and experimental. Matt has been teaching since 1999.Personality rating: Easygoing

John plays and teaches in Nashville TN

John has been a professional musician for over 20 years and teaches saxophone, steel guitar, dobro, guitar, bass, clarinet & flute. He continues to perform and record in the Nashville and Atlanta areas. Recently John worked on a project that featured a couple of solos by Steve Lukather, the guitarist with the group “TOTO.” and recorded on a 3 CD project on Steel guitar, Dobro, Sax and Flute for Tommy Overstreet who is on a major record label and is sold in stores everywhere. This project was also nominated for a Grammy. John has worked with such artists as TG Shepherd, Merle Haggard, Glen Campbell and Crystal Gayle, both recording and helping in the arrangements. In 1991 he toured with Hank Williams, Jr., on the “Lone Wolf Tour” among other tours he has done over the past years. He as also done a lot of video and TV work. John teaches all the contemporary styles, especially country and blue grass.

Skype guitar lessons with Susan

Suzanne began lessons at the age of 8 off and on, after begging for lessons since the age of 6. She knew after seeing her first guitar, that she wanted nothing else but to play guitar! At the age of 16, Suzanne took lessons from a professional instructor and began learning classical guitar, where she began the musical journey of merging classical and rock. To date she has studied privately over 30 years from college professors, and has performed in bands since the early 1990’s. Suzanne has been teaching since 1998, teaching jazz, classical, rock, and metal. Suzanne is currently taking on line classes at Berklee College of Music.

Michael in Franklin TN co-authored Mel Bay’s Percussion Sessions

Michael received his Bachelors in Music from Belmont University in Nashville, TN in 2000 for Commercial Music where he studied with world renowned drummer, Chester Thompson. He was then awarded a fellowship to study with world famous jazz drummer, Danny Gottlieb, at the University of South Florida where he received a Masters in Music with an emphasis in Jazz Performance. Michael is a well-known and in demand performer and educator. He has performed in many orchestras and bands, including the Nashville Jazz Orchestra, Greenland and many more. Following grad school, Michael and Danny co-authored their first book with Mel Bay, The Drummer’s Workbook for Control and Creativity. Michael is the editor of Mel Bay’s Percussion Sessions®, a webzine devoted to percussion education. Michael has been teaching since 1997, and his styles include rock, jazz, Latin, big band, county, funk, and musicals, among other styles.

Aaron in Frankfort KY teaches drums via skype

Aaron graduated from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Percussion Performance. Aaron started playing percussion in the 6th grade band and continued all the way through high school. He has taught since 2004 teaching students of all ages and levels. He has performed in all kinds of bands since 2003, including contemporary rock groups, jazz combos/big bands, as well as larger classical ensembles. While at the University, he played in the jazz ensemble, orchestra, marching band, and wind ensemble. Aaron’s styles include jazz, pop, rock, R&B, Metal, Funk, classical, latin, African and Afro-cuban.Personality rating: Easygoing

Sam in Spokane is an expert in high school drum lines

Sam graduated with a Percussion Performance degree form Eastern Washington University in 1992. She has been teaching since 1991 and offers all styles. She currently performs around the Spokane area. She has worked with many high school drum lines and various music organizations and has been with the Air National Guard band for 16 years, and is on the board for the Professional Musicians union as well as the Musicfest Northwest. Sam is also involved with music stores and centers in the area.Personality rating: Outgoing
