Publicity, promotion and advertising…what’s the difference?

Advertising involves spending money to purchase media space or radio spots to promote and publicize shows.  If you choose to advertise a performance in addition to DIY publicity and promotion, you should understand the expense of media space and radio time.

To understand ad rates, simply request a RATE CARD  from a newspaper, magazine or radio station. These are easily emailed. A RATE CARD (sometimes called a rate sheet)  describes a publication’s demographic, distribution, costs and size (or length) of ads and frequency of publication or rotation.
